Counter Drone Solutions is an independent advisory firm specialising in the assessment, design, and delivery of counter-drone capability.
We support government, critical infrastructure, and security-conscious organisations operating in complex and high-risk environments, where decisions must be defensible, proportionate, and operationally effective.
Our role is to ensure counter-drone capability is defined by risk and operational requirement — not driven by technology or vendor positioning.
Experience & Credibility
Counter Drone Solutions is led by John Hildebrand and was established in 2017, with formal operations commencing in 2018, in response to the increasing complexity of the counter-drone environment.
The organisation is underpinned by operational experience across law enforcement, aviation, and counter-drone capability, ensuring advice is grounded in real-world application rather than theoretical performance.
Key experience includes:
- Senior Project Officer for counter-drone capability at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, delivering a multi-agency operational environment
- Collaboration with the Australian Federal Police and Australian Defence Force on capability design and coordination
- Experience in capability evaluation, operational testing, and risk-based planning in high-risk environments
- Aviation and remotely piloted aircraft expertise, including regulatory and operational considerations
- Working knowledge of Australian legislative and policy constraints impacting counter-drone capability
